Martin is a very thoughtful and caring person, as well as a technician, and I’ve been proud to watch his progress over the years as his saxophone repair and restoration business has grown and flourished.
Additionally, Martin is an accomplished saxophonist, performing with the US Army Band “Pershing’s Own” for over twenty years. Martin received his master’s in Saxophone Performance from George Mason University, his master’s in Music Theory from FSU, and Doctorate of Music- ABD from FSU as well. His Big Bend Saxophone Studio in Tallahassee, FL, regularly sends students to Florida All-State Band and All District.
Martin explained his decision to take the Ubercouse: “I see these two weeks as a sort of graduate school. I’m no beginner by any means, but there are so many things I can do better. I think I can become quicker, certainly, by becoming more efficient. But my time is my own. What I’m really interested in is making a saxophone play as well as it possibly can. The Uberhaul. I think I’m close, but just as in playing an instrument, the final parts of the journey are the hardest. I’m very excited to begin making that climb.”
Martin’s already made himself at home at his new bench here at the shop and I know we’re going to have a great time with him the next two weeks!
