We are completely restoring this 1939 Buescher Aristocrat alto, including re-engraving and silver plating! We will install RooPads and use the original Buescher snap-in resonators. This alto has been modified to include key contacts for the G, side C, and high E, a SuperSlick Set-Up for the Left Hand Table, and an improved Low C# mechanism using minibals.
The engraving is light from years of wear. It’ll get a fresh silver plating and new engraving.
We partially assembled this horn to test the C# minibal system. It’s awesome!
Before this horn gets plated, all the keys are fit and dry fitting is done. After it’s plated it will only need to be re-assembled.
That added sliver of brass keeps the rollers from rubbing on the G# tab. The great idea is the reshaping of the G# tab where that part hits. It allows the C# pad to open higher and keeps it from being flat or stuffy.
Side E got its contact; side C will get it, too!
Key fitting time:
Sorry Buescher, this is just a better design!
The bell has been polished and it’s ready for re-engraving.
Back from the engraver, ready to get silver plated!
Prepping the engraving before sandblasting.
Assembling the low C# Minibal mechanism.
This alto looks awesome and is almost done!
This alto came back looking great! Chris is test-fitting the keywork after which we’ll apply new materials and install new pads.
