Matt sent us his True Tone Tenor for an extensive Uberhaul. In addition to our normal routine, this tenor will require extra body work and full mechanical restoration. Matt asked us to modify the G# Touch, transforming it from a pearl to a half moon. One of the other large modifications will be the addition of a front F mechanism.
One of several guards that are coming unsoldered.
Several posts needed to be moved on this tenor.
The finished Front F mechanism. We’ll install a convex pearl down the line.
The new G# touch installed!
Pads are going in! Matt selected Saxgourmet Pads with seamless domed metal resonators.
Doesn’t the added front F mechanism look original? Also, we aged the new front F convex pearl to match the old ones.
Saxgourmet pads installed!
New blued steel needle springs installed!
Setting up the 8va mechanism for this customer horn.
Matt opted to add palm key risers. Here’s the first step, glueing on the layered sheets of cork.
The cork palm key risers have been shaped. Now we coat them with epoxy, which will make them smooth and durable.
Finished palm key risers!
This Uberhaul is complete! Time to box this horn up and ship it back home.
