This gold-plated Conn Chu Tenor was purchased by Chris and previously owned by Ken Coon of the Rascher Saxophone Quartet. Ken brought us this tenor in 2010 for an Uberhaul and later sold it to us. We have added key contacts to side C and high E, relocated the strap ring and thumb hook, and installed RooPads with Conn-style flat metal resonators.
Here are some photos from a past Uberhaul:
This beautiful Tenor Sax belongs to our good friend Kenneth Coon. Ken plays a Bari that we overhauled in the Rascher Saxophone Quartet. We’re doing some cool mods to this horn along with some improvements to the appearance. It will get White RooPads with Maestro Flat Metal resos.
Two Tone gold touched up and looks great!
Kens Tenor at Key fitting:
Touching up the gold plate:
Side keys without side key contacts added. The side Eb contact will be Selmer type with a round pin contacting the body. The Side C is going to hit that post from the Alt. F# and the side B does not need a contact.
Moved the Strap ring down to a much more comfortable position. We’ll clean up the old strap ring spot as much as we can.
Moved the Thumb Hook to a higher and much more comfortable position:
The horn is playing great!
We put some extra gold in the bell where it was worn. Looks niiiiice.
